Sun, 23 November 2008 Sunday, November 23, 2008Message by: Pastor Ken Harvey Bible Ref.: Luke 6:27-38 God did not pour out his love for this world because he was sure it would “work.” Many people are still a mess, ungrateful, and unresponsive to God’s generosity. Yet his gift of grace and love wasn’t contingent on whether we could pay him back or not. As a result, while we trust that God will use our gifts, monies, and talents to impact others’ lives, the goal is not to fix anything or anybody. The goal is not to make the poor not poor or the needy not needy. The goal is for followers of Christ to do for others that has been done for them. Comments[0] |
Sun, 16 November 2008 ![]() Sunday, November 16, 2008 Jesus made it very clear that the values of people who are in God's kingdom do not match up with the values of this world. To the world, kingdom values seem strange and out of touch. Jesus points out that worldly values are limited and shallow. There is a choice that must be made if we want to follow Jesus. It requires trust, hope and patience. Jesus said, "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven." Comments[0] |
Sun, 9 November 2008 ![]() Sunday, November 9, 2008 The Pharisees thought their religious system had all the answers. They could not accept Jesus because he did not fit into their system. Could we miss Jesus for the same reason? Is our faith in a religious system or is it a personal relationship with our Savior? No religious system is big enough to contain Christ completely or to fulfill perfectly all his desires for the world. Comments[0] |
Sun, 2 November 2008 Sunday, November 2, 2008Message by: Ken Harvey The Pharisees were very skeptical of Jesus. He represented a new way of thinking that was in opposition to theirs. They were paying attention to every action that he took and to his possible motives. He was a threat to their system and what they represented. This weekend we will look at two of their questions of Jesus, his response, and what that means to us today. Comments[0] |
